"Slime Attack" TELPAS STEM Camp Hosted by 2nd Grade

Posted Date: 02/14/2022

On February 4, 2022 “Fun Friday” Garza Elementary 2nd Grade Team collaborated together to stay cozy and have some STEM learning fun. Students were engaged in a thematic unit of STEM TELPAS listening, speaking, reading and writing as we held a Slime Readathon as a grade level. The students practiced their listening skills, as they created and listened to the instructions of how to make slime with Ms. Alanis. Next the students were engaged in accelerated reader books with Ms. Trevino, as she read aloud “The Slime Attack” along with several other slime books and the students were asked higher order thinking comprehension questions. Then the second graders wrote a  procedural text about “How to make Slime” with Ms. Ruiz. Last students practiced their math division skills with Ms. Alanis as we divided the slime into equal groups to share. Team work makes the dream work.
