Love in Language- E. Garza Elementary Students TELPAS Camp Embraces Valentine’s Day
PreK students at Evangelina Garza Elementary participated in a festive TELPAS camp event with a Valentine’s Day twist. The camp, aimed at enhancing English proficiency, integrated language learning with the theme of love and friendship. Activities included listening to the book Emily's Valentines Party. This language rich story was then proceeded with a planning session to celebrate the main character’s Valentine’s Day Party. During this time, students discussed the items needed for a party and created the shopping list, which allowed for practice with oral language expression in their 2nd language. This conversational English practice was followed by a collaborative writing session in which students wrote out the Invitation to the party. This event fostered not only language development but also a sense of camaraderie among participants.
