students handling slime

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, 1st grade students at Garza Elementary who participated in a TELPAS camp engaged in a delightful and educational activity: slime making.

First, students viewed a “how to” segment for making the special slime. Then, they followed oral and written instructions for making their very own Valen-Slime, and finalized by answering questions found on special “task cards”.

This hands-on project not only fostered creativity but also incorporated elements of science and sensory exploration. Beyond the fun of squishing and stretching, this activity encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills. As the slime took shape, so did the students' understanding of STEM concepts, making for a memorable and enriching Valentine's Day celebration.

Thank you First Grade Team for facilitating the integration of STEM & TELPAS!
