📕 🎉 We’re excited to kick off the 2025–2026 school year at our ACE campuses, Juan N. Seguin Elementary and Evangelina Garza STEM Elementary! 🙌
The energy on both campuses is already incredible, and it’s clear our staff is all in for our students.

This week, teachers launched their professional learning sessions and had the chance to hear from Dr. Marcey Sorensen, Superintendent of Schools. Her message set the tone for a year rooted in purpose, passion, and student success. Let’s go, ACE teams! 🎉💪🍎

📱 Just a reminder about House Bill 1481, a new state law effective starting the 2025–2026 school year. This law is designed to reduce distractions during class, support student learning, and keep classrooms safe and focused. It defines personal wireless communication devices as any cell phone, tablet, laptop, smartwatch, or similar device not issued by the school.

⚠️ Beginning next school year, student use of these devices will be prohibited during instructional time in all Texas public schools, including La Joya ISD. Our district is working on a plan that supports learning, minimizes distractions, and ensures safety.

📢 Stay tuned for important updates in the coming days and weeks!

📅 July 23–25: We want to hear from you! A survey will be open for families, students, and staff to share input.

📋 July 26–29: Our team will finalize district policies and procedures to comply with HB 1481.

🏫 July 30: The recommended policy will be presented to the school board for review and possible adoption.

📣 After July 30: Finalized procedures and expectations will be shared with families, and campuses will prepare for implementation.
